The Wordly Wise 3000 Academic Vocabulary is an innovative program uniquely available in ANEE. This program turns this classic but dry workbook into an encyclopedia. Learning academic vocabulary is no longer a drill, but rather, a journey into the world of nature, science, and technology. ANEE’s lead teacher of this program has reinvented the wheel by piecing vocabularies together through fascinating facts and engaging stories, infusing plenty of opportunities for students to share their personal experience and use these vocabularies in the classroom. ANEE proudly announced the purchase of Wonders program, the most widely used English curriculum in North America’s private and public elementary schools, in July 2020. The Wonders program is designed to foster critical reading, phonics, grammar, and writing skills in children. By utilizing a comprehensive set of connected resources for all learners in grades K–6, our experienced teachers offer a unique learning experience in which students grow confidence in their reading and writing. ANEE Grammar and Writing This series of grammar and writing classes (5 levels) covers everything from the basics of grammar to the complexities of grammatical choices that advanced learners need. We adapt the resources in “Write Right” and “Great Writings” to enable students to use grammar in a context that students can connect with. The focus of writing gradually shifts from narrative, descriptive, and expository (Level 1, 2 and 3), to persuasive(level 4&5). ----------------------------------------------------- ANEE Creative Writing Have you been thinking about unlocking your potential in creative writing? Storytelling Designed for Grade 1-3 learners as a bridge to creative writing, this course offers a practical, step-by-step guide to brainstorming on and presenting oral stories that could “Wow your crowd”. Graphic Novels & Diary Writing A graphic novel uses images—often in a comic strip style—to tell a story. With pictures or illustrations and a lot less text, graphic novels help kids practice reading and build positive associations with books. When students are engaged in a text, they will most likely have more self-efficacy for writing. In other words, they are more motivated to produce their own writing and not being afraid of make mistakes. This is the design rationale behind our Graphic Novel and Diary Writing courses. The goal is to teach our student proper writing conventions, grammar and use of collocations in a stress-free setting, where students of younger age enjoy their favorite Graphic novels while they write. Students also improve their writing skills in the areas of sequencing, plot, and character development. ----------------------------------------------------- Close Reading of Classics Close Reading of the Classics is a reading and writing program based on classic novels for grade 3 to grade 9 students. The class is taught jointly by two teachers on alternating weeks, with one teacher being responsible for leading the literary appreciation of classics, and the other focusing on the writing of summary, book report, and other types of responses. Students are expected to submit a piece of writing as their homework after each class, and their draft will be reviewed and commented by ANEE’s teacher. Peer review and self-edit is also included in the writing process. Our reading list features Newberry Medal and Honor Books and New York Times Best Sellers.
